Default Brian Leonard?

"Q: Is the reason Brian Leonard was inactive yesterday because his groin is still bothering him?
ML: “No, Brian was healthy.”

Q: Was it because you needed depth at defensive line, and chose to activate one less running back as a result?
ML: “(We) just put together the 45-man roster a little differently this week.”"

Huh?

can't figure it out myself. He has proven to be very clutch in the comeback games.

All I can figure is he missed a team meeting or something.

They needed his roster spot so they could get Rucker on the 45 man.

I don't really have anything to say to this except "What ya gonna do?"

I guess it's a good dillema to have. I can't think of anyone who dressed yesterday that I think shouldn't have to make room for Leonard unless we had worked Leonard all week at playing TE, which clearly isn't going to happen. I agree that it was probably to make room for Frostee since we needed an additional DE because Odom played both running and passing downs consistently.

Brian Leonard didnt play big deal the bengals put up over 40 points and won big. Take some joy in that unless you are only a Brian Leonard fan.

I read in one of the many articles Geoff wrote that Leonard was inactive so they could have plenty of bodies available on the D-Line due to injuries.

There was concern about dline depth with Peko possibly having the chance to reinjure his knee and/or not being as ready to play as they projected. Also, I think we had every intention of letting Scott get some work, which we did. Plus Jeremi was ready to go as well.

The silver lining in all this is that despite the fact that Scott and Jeremi injured their knees (which aren't believed to be bone bruises, er, serious), that if one of them can't go after the bye against the Ratbirds, Leonard will be 100% ready.

A masterful stroke of roster manipulation, if you ask me.

What was the final score? Apparently the roster that the HC decided on worked out pretty damn well. He did not have Leonard inactive to slight him in anyway or to state that he did not like the way he was playing I am sure. As much as everyone would like to think that they know what is best for this team and roster I am sure that the HC and the staff has just a tad bit better insight into these things than this message board does.

I huge win like we had and there still must be something to gripe about I guess.

Leonard is on Bengals Line and said he'll be ready to go for Baltimore. My guess is he probably could have played if necessary, but why risk making the groin injury worse, the week before the bye?

You could always ignore these threads since they seem to annoy you.

As for the OP, at least Rucker cashed in on the opportunity he was given with Leonard's spot.

I agree with this statement. It protected someone who's been HUGE for this team from aggrevating or worsening a groin injury (those can be bad!) and allowed us to see what Scott could do, even though that didn't exactly go as planned while keeping an extra DL active in the event we needed the extra help.

Great job Mr. Lewis! Keep up the great work!

Yeah I could and as well could probably asked for your advice if I thought it necessary. Sorry, I find griping about the roster that was put together that played virtually a flawless game as a bit nit picky, but just have to call them as I see them.

You just seem angry towards any criticism of the team. Just like when you used to be timw99.

I get angry about unjust criticism of the team. You may solve this by giving me a viable reason that the roster put on the field yesterday was not a good choice.

I think the OP was confused. I don't think he understood why Leonard was out. I was confused as well until I read the comments after the game. Some people stick to JN for their news and questions. Alot of times it is because they are at work and cannot access the front page for this valuable info.

im on page with you brian leonard has been key. but he was a little banged up (can play doesnt mean 100%) so they gave him a rest as a side result B Scott got more reps than usualy and benson got to be an every down back (did we have 3rd downs?)

i also so a couple full house packages which could have been a result of leonard not being active.

Did anyone notice that nelson got a decent amount of snaps and did not have a negative play against him ( i did) Same with Trent i didnt like this pick but the kid can play and has some speed // also big on ST's

hopefully jeremi gets rested up hes been big for us but i could think of worst things than getting pressley in there

No way. I enjoy OSUfan much better. Much more angry and has more knowledge. Bengalbarry would just be " J.Smith is the greatest DE that ever lived" And you would read it and Go "WTF" this guy must be smoking the Mike Brown Kool-aid or somethin.

Good times, Good times

OSU FAN might seem angry but think about this

we won 45 - 10 and someone is complaining that B Leonard didnt get to play

now if we lost do to poor 3rd down converting it would be a legit complaint. and a questionable coaching call. but we didnt loss we won bigger than any game that hes played in.

so if it isnt worth getting aggervated by (to org poster) then why worry about it
