Default A Very Lucky Mock

First I would like to start off by saying that I believe we will be picking #1 overall, are schedule the rest of the way is hard and I dont think we even have a chance against Cleveland. I do think the Panthers will win one and maybe even two more games before the end of the season, those wins being over the Cardinals and the Falcons in week 17 with the falcons already locking up the #1 seed in the NFC and playing there back ups. Anyways on to the mock.....

Round 1 The Cincinnati Bengals select Andrew Luck QB Stanford 6'4" 220lbs.
This guy is possibly the best QB prospect ever and we need to start fresh. So we grab our new face of the franchise and let the rebuilding begin.

Round 2 The Cincinnati Bengals select Derek Sherrod OT Mississippi State 6'6" 325lbs. This is very wishful thinking but the OTs in this years draft are hard to project, so it could happen. Obiviously I am not sold on Andre Smith in fact I hope to find his replacement (or what he should have been) with this pick.

Round 3 The Cincinnati Bengals select Marcus Cannon OG TCU 6'6" 350lbs.
Another Oline pick to protect our investment, this guy is a monster and would upgrade either guard spot.

Round 4 The Cincinnati Bengals select Karl Klug DT Iowa 6'4" 300lbs.
This guy is one mean sob, this selection would help the interior of our d-line(hopefully replacing tank!). He is extremely under the radar right now IMO.

Round 5 The Cincinnati Bengals select Nate Williams S Washington 6'1" 200lbs.
The saftey class is weak this year but I really like this guy, he is a sure tackler and good in coverage. Not to mention a great leader something our defense appears to be lacking.

Come on. There are several guys that have better skill sets coming into the NFL then Luck.

Peyton Manning
John Elway
Troy Aikman
Carson Palmer

He's good, but he's not a once in a lifetime prospect. He's right in line with Bradford, Stafford and the rest of the recent #1 overall QBs.

Sherrod is not an impossible pick he is looking like a late 1st. Just last year Tyson Allualu was picked a round early and knocked some 1st round hopefuls back (turns out to be good decision).

Are you sure about Klug. He is projecting as a much lighter 6th round DE.

We can use help on the o-line definitely but tackles get paid well and I doubt that we will draft one let alone two! We can only hope!

He's probably as close to a sure thing that as anyone that I can remember in a long time.He has an NFL pedigree and has been coached by an ex nfl qb during his entire college career.I am sure that we both agree he has a leg up coming out anyways.

Don't be overly sure about that.
Carolina's remaining schedule is weaker and they actually have a running game unlike Cincy.

Not a flashy draft but it would be helpful in improving the team. The Luck pick is a toss up for me, he seems like a great prospect but this team has so many holes to fill. If they could get Palmer to restructure his deal and spending the 1 rd pick elsewhere I think would be the best, but I couldhandle the Luck pick. That is a little high for Karl Klug, he is rated about at 6th-7th round pick and he weighs only about 270, but he is a high effort guy and I would be happy with him as a 7th round pick. Maybe Armon Binns in the 4th instead to give Luck (or whomever is the Q a weapon since the WR corp is really up in the air right now, Armon Binns has had a fantastic two years and I am very suprised he is rated as low as he is. Like I said Klug would be a good option in the 7th but I think we should go best available and RB is a hole to fill if we lose Benson. I don't know anything about the S from the Huskies but that is a position that needs to be filled with someone who can contribute very soon, hopefully he could fit that role.

The only thing that worries me about taking Luck is that he is only a redshirt sophomore. It seems that the great QBs that have come along in the past decade all seem to have stayed for their senior years.

I'm not saying that's a deal-breaker, but the trend seems to favor experience coming out of college.

He's a great prospect, but it's not like he has legendary arm strength, legendary accuracy etc.
