Default Geno Atkins is a Beast!

I've been on this kids bandwagon since we drafted him. Did you see his manhandling display last night? He is going to have a great coming out party this year, especially if Dunlap stays healthy and continues to draw double teams.

Damn right!

He is a short fat booger DT with high motor, causing mayhem in the pocket. Keep him on the field and goods will happen.

Last I heard Hobson said Dunlap would be ready for the opener. Whether that is true or not is another matter.

And yeah, Atkins is a beast. He has a second effort I like a lot and it will come in handy getting Ben Roeth down.

yup that was him. tank johnson might have had the name but geno is built like a tank, low to the ground, solid as a rock and doesn't let anyone or anything stand in his way.

Getting push up the middle is a defense's best friend and an offense's worst nightmare. If that was a QB who couldn't run like Newton, there would have been several sacks. Atkins has been the MVP of the D so far. Dunlap and MJ should benefit in a big way from Geno.

this is so true! love how he set the tone by lifting his man almost off the ground right into cam newton. lol really love this d line. there were a couple breakdowns here and there, but cam will get his from time to time.

Atkins is the most disruptive DT I have seen in a Bengals uniform, probably ever. I was young when Krumrie played, but you don't need to have seen much from Atkins to know he is a special talent.

Having a good UT in this scheme is SOOOOO damn important, and it looks like the Bengals may have FINALLY found one. It’s not as if they grow on trees and I bet a whole lot of 4-3 teams with under-shifted fronts are kicking themselves for passing up on him. Geno Atkins at this point is certainly one of the best draft picks they’ve had since Andrew Whitworth. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him become a Pro Bowl player. I hesitate ot say that he reminds me of Warren Sapp, but what the hey! Here's to wishing!

Now if Carlos Dunlap is able to back-up his end-of-the-year performance, and Michael Johnson continues to progress, they may finally be on to something.

Best way to cause havoc is that bullrush in the middle. That's what happened to Cam last night. Geno stuffed up the middle, he had little of no room and was forced to throw horrible, inaccurate passes. Michael Johnson did a good job, Robert Geathers was ineffective. I think that'll change when Dunlap gets back, then they'll have no where to run.

The great thing is that type of effort on d is contagious. Peko actually got some pressure on Newton as well. The D will make some mistakes but they are a young talented group.

Good, especially with QB's like Cam Newton who can't pass for crap and need to create plays with their feet. Everytime he ran, he ran using the hole between Geathers and Peko. Neither are fast enough to close that gap.

Peko has played well also our whole dline is playing well. This defense might be elite by the time the season is over.

Watch the first series from last night. He literally picked up the lineman and threw him into Newton. Geno has been extremely impressive.

Yeah, I really like what I'm seeing out of Geno. I just hope Marvin doesn't pull a Marvin and slide him back on the depth chart when Sims gets healthy.
