He is denying the report, but I am betting it will be announced after the game.

The report also says he is taking some of the Gator's current staff with him. No way the deal gets confirmed and publicized while the season is still on going. Classy move as to not cause distraction while quietly giving recruits a little something new to consider if they have not already committed somewhere else.

Good news for our Buckeyes if this does turn out to be true.

Over under on how many years he lasts before The Urb resigns for "health reasons" Or will he just resign at the first sign of adversity like a 7-5 season?

Its ironic at how many buckeye fans despised urban meyer before this. My how times have changed. I just hope its not true that he demanded that osu lowered their academic standards before he would agree to sign. If it is, then osu just sold their soul. So much for osu trying to clean up their image. haha

Urban Meyer is not a thug like Tressel.

But he is a winner like Tressel; it would be a good hire if true.

Ohio State should go after Saban though; just pay him more money.

Saban will come; he is the best coach in college football today.

Tressel wasnt a thug. We now know he wasnt as clean as we all thought but he certainly isnt a thug. Urban seems more thuggish to me. He had some 25 player arrests during his tenure at florida. Now those arent all his fault obviousy but it does say alot about the kinds of kids he recruits.

Urban is a great coach no doubt. But he seems to me to be the john calipari of college football. A bit slippery

Saban has been on my wish list since Cooper was ran out of town.

Meyer is by far the best choice for the job over anyone out there. I honestly don't see how anyone else should even be offered the job before him. He will instantly get the top recruits into the program, and will guide us to a national title faster than anyone else could right now. He has 2 titles and is only 47 years old, and also would be the best head coach OSU ever has hired at the moment of the actual hire.

Agree about Tressel not being a thug. That's just goofy. Tressel's skirting of the rules is par for the course. Every major program does the same thing and HCs of every program plays along, just like Tress did.

Then when the time came, he fell on his sword. Tressel is a good dude, great coach and I hold him in very high esteem.

As for Meyer, what's he gonna do? The best players are the best players, you need them to win, they're all friggin' head cases to some degree or other. We're talking about 18 year old kids who have been being told their ish don't stink since they were 12 cuz they play football good. The issues are unavoidable in any winning program.

How is it ironic? He out-coached us to an embarassing degree, more than once. Why wouldn't we want someone with his coaching abilities?

No different than any other sport.

I'm a Reds fan, can't stand Albert Pujols, but would love him on our team.
I'm a Bengals fan, but when there was talk about Cowher un-retiring I wanted him to come here.

Same with Urban, of course Buckeye fans are going to hate him when he destroys our team.

Not ironic at all, it's human nature.

If I could hand pick a coach, at any level, retired or actively coaching, I would choose Urban Meyer. That includes Miles, Saban, anyone. With the talent we have on offense he can have us contending for an NC within 2 seasons.

I hate O$U, but I would love to see you guys get Meyer.

I wanna see O$U and Michigan be Power Houses again and compete for the Big 10 Championship again every year and try to kill each other. Brady vs. Urban could become almost as good as Bo vs. Woody.

I agree. When both Ohio St and Michigan have powerhouse programs, it's good for the Big 10 and for college football. As far as Meyer is concerned, I think he will have this Buckeyes team playing top 5 football for the next few years and competing for a national title. He will bring Florida/SEC assistants here to join him and maybe a couple Buckeye alumni as well. Bringing that SEC coaching style/mindset to the Big 10 should refreshing to watch. When you look at what Meyer has done with his previous programs at BG, Utah and Florida, you have to be very excited about what he will be able to accomplish at OSU!!!

Besides having a stupid first name Meyer is a quitter. (like palmer). When things started not going his way at Florida he faked heart problems and used that as an excuse to quit. He has No character. I suppose however from the no character standpoint he would fit right in at OSU replacing the lier, cheat and fraud known as Tressel.

Sidenote: Didn't the coach of the Colts hire Tressel as a consultant, because of all his football knowledge? How's that working out for the Colts?

He was hired on as a consultant in the booth for just replays. He has had basically zero impact one way or the other on why they haven't won a game, unless he goofed up on a replay that cost them a win, which I haven't heard anything about.
