Default Why do people still say "who dey"?

Just interested. I know a couple of years back it was the chant, but I haven't heard it from the team since idk when. I think it sounds very corny and sounds like a behind the times song a losing franchise would sing. "Who Dey" sounds so 80's. Why haven't we came with a better slogan? The steel curtain vs who dey? It's so wack that it's embarrassing to type it. I'd rather have no slogan than who dey. Who else agrees.

For the same reason we still sing a corny 60's era fight song after touchdowns - it's part of the tradition of the team. Tradition is a good thing. I would rather stick with traditions than try to contrive something new or adopt something from someone else. For example, can we ditch Sweet Caroline and find something our own to do at the start of the fourth quarter? At least "Welcome to the Jungle" was relevant to the Bengals.

I've never understood this. You're going into the most important quarter of the game, and instead of playing an up tempo song to help or get people pumped up they play an old, slow tempo song that almost lulls you to sleep. Makes no sense at all.

I'll take "Who Dey" over cool words like "Swag Out" any day.

Totally agree on the song aspect. They did the same thing at the Univ of Pitt vs UC game, it just seems lame. I would give a big vote for "Welcome to the Jungle"....

Oh yeah..... WWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO DDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY!

Obviously, you have no sense of tradition...

WHO-DEY came many years before Who-dat (NO Saints)...

I kind of agree. I've never actually said, or even typed it. I did post a picture on Facebook of a guy in a Bengals wookie costume with the caption "Chew Dey! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!"

Say it all the time. I like that its evolved into more than a 'cheer'. It's a catch-all. When I see someone wearing Bengals gear, I don't say 'Hi, I'm Greg and I'm also a fan of the Bengals'. A quick 'Who Dey' and a nod and they understand. Go over to watch the game with my family? Walk in the door, give a 'Who Dey' in place of 'hello'.

I can't see a Steelers fan seeing another Steelers fan out and giving them a 'quick' "here we go Steelers, here we go".

My wife bought me a Bengals Pillow Pet for Sweetest Day this year, guess what his name is:

WHO DEY!

It's awesome because it's so universal to anyone who's a REAL Bengals fan.

Clearly, they need to play "Scrub Scrub Scrub" by King Harkinian instead.
