I decided to contact the NFL Commissioner about the Bengals FA.

Here is what I wrote.

Mr. Goodell,
I have been a fan of the NFL and the Cincinnati Bengals for over 40 years. I have supported the NFL by buying tickets, merchandise, and visiting training camps for years. I am a fan, and believed the idea of rooting for your team to win was what makes the NFL great.
I am one inch from not being a NFL fan, supporting any team, or spending one red cent for anything related to the NFL. You may wonder what has gotten me this up set, it is the total lack of effort by the Cincinnati Bengals front office and Mike Brown in particular to improve in FA. The Bengals have the most money available in FA according to several sources, but have not signed their own players, or even put an honest effort into signing any quality FA. I can not support a product that is just taking money from hard working fans, while doing nothing to win.
It was rumored that in the late 90's, Mike Brown was threatened with losing his franchise because of how poorly the Bengals were run. I supported the team even back then. However I can not support them any longer, or support the NFL if it allows Mike Brown to con the fans out of their hard earned money, while pocketing the money from an intentionally cheaply, and poorly franchise. Mike Browns actions have damaged the Cincinnati Franchise, and the entire NFL.
I know I am just a fan, but fans are what makes the NFL not only be fun, great, but work. If there is no fan money, there is no NFL. The fans are the people who pay the tickets, buy the concessions, and even buy the products from the commercials on TV. If the fans go away the NFL goes away.
Mr. Goodell, please do something about how the Cincinnati Bengals are being run. Even if you have to take the franchise away from the Brown Family, and Cincinnati looses the franchise. It would be better than seeing the entire NFL damaged by how that franchise is run by Mike Brown. You are NFL commissioner, please do something.

Actually I'm going to. I think that every time one of us gets the urge to freak out here we should email Goodell, respectively of course. But that makes a lot more sense than just venting here.

What defines "honest effort"?

Unless you were in on the discussions, you don't know what we offered to the FAs we brought in.
They could have received very reasonable offers, but decided to see what others thought they were worth.
Leaving town without putting pen to paper is discouraging, but overpaying FAs is stupid.

As much as I am unhappy as I have stated like a record player in here, he probably still has 1000's of letters from last off-season to go through. I just don't see any point in this, especially after going 9-7 last year and makin the playoffs.

I gotta agree with this (besides talking about MB dying).

I'd say there's a 99.99% chance that Goodell will never see any emails or letters that us fans would write to him. And even if he did, he'd just glance over it. He's got bigger problems than a disgruntled fanbase.
