Nike sues Reebok for making Tebow jerseys Credit: Profootballtalk.com Next week, Nike takes over the NFL apparel contract. Last week, Tim Tebow became a member of the New York Jets. So Reebok decided to make one last cash grab, rushing Tebow jerseys bearing the Reebok logo to market. And Nike didn’t like it. Via Darren Rovell of CNBC, Nike has sued Reebok. “We have filed a complaint relating to unauthorized use of Tim Tebow’s name on New York Jets related apparel,” Nike said in a statement. “Nike is authorized and licensed to use Tim Tebow’s name on products. We have no further comment at this stage.” Though Nike won’t roll out its NFL apparel until next week, Rovell explains that the NFLPA license to place player names on jerseys expired last week. It’s unknown whether Nike also has sued the NFL, which is selling the Reebok Tebow jerseys via its online store. |
