The ensuing CP6 retire-off would be fun to watch.

If the Panthers didn't have young WRs that have shown potential, and need the extra snaps to further develop... I'd love for Ocho to come to Carolina and be reunited with SS89.

I'll say this, for his production:pay ratio, Chad was a bad acquisition by the "vaunted" Patriots front office. But you'll hear nothing of the sort because they happened to make it to the SB with little production from him at all. Man, are they ever bulletproof.

interesting. that might be a good fit for ol chad down there. revive himself off the fiery guy cam is, not to mention steve smith on the other side? not bad. but i think gettis is gonna be good for car, & chad can only run out of the 1 spot.so no go. its gonna be tough, who wants a wr that can only run sloppy rts out of the X wr spot & could barely get on the field as a patriot. i feel sorry for the guy. maybe cle should take a shot @ him. when he jumped in there endzone after he said he was gonna score & do so, they greated him with hugs & drinks..

He did put us back in the media's favor.... Chad might have been a distraction but he helped keep the attention on him instead of all the other crap that was going on here.

He was a running joke in the media the last 3 seasons he played here. Chad Johnson was a great player and helped bring a lot of positive attention to the team and city from 03-07, but Ochocinco was a distraction and nothing more than an average receiver who ran his mouth too much.

I hope he gets a ring, but I don't want him back on this team unless it's on a one day contract for retirement purposes.

I was kinda referring to before he became a distraction to the team.. (before the 08 season)

Up thru 07 he was one of the most exciting players in the nfl to watch.

I think Gettis and LaFell have potential also. Only way to really tell is if they're given enough snaps to further enhance their in-game play.

I like Ocho though. He and SS89 are still buddies....I think they could play very well off each other. But, I hope he goes to a team like the Dolphins, that need a lot of WR help.

Yeah, we never won a championship with him here, but guess what, that same standard applies to every player ever to put on the orange and black.

If you are still bitter about him wanting out a few years back, you might have some real issues you should really deal with rather than simply redirecting that anger at something else.

I've been saying that for years too. When we had no heart in this organization, he sparked a fire under this team. He was never in trouble, and always did a lot for the community. Still the Best WR to wear stripes EVER. I do hope AJ changes that though.

Actually he had 7 fumbles and for a WR, you should not ever have that many. For supposedly as great as he was then why did he have this many? Plus, you have to remember, he hardly ever went over the middle and when he did he got his head knocked off because of his big mouth. He was a sideline WR,big deal. Plus, he only averaged 5 catches per game.

According to Bengals.com, T.J. Houshmandzadeh used to tell Chad Ochocinco where to line up on offense in Cincinnati.

Ochocinco's cavalier attitude toward the playbook started long before his one-year stop-over in New England. Ochocinco's offensive freelancing certainly didn't endear him to Carson Palmer or former Bengals OC Bob Bratkowski, now in Jacksonville. There's also belief in the Queen City that Ochocinco never played as hard again after being nailed by Browns safety Brian Russell in the 2006 home opener. "If I went with Tom Brady and didn't produce, I'd hang it up," Houshmandzadeh said of Ochocinco's 2011 struggles.

From Rotoworld w/ Rotoworld comments:

Multiple sources tell the Boston Globe that Chad Ochocinco just didn't have the "football I.Q." to succeed with the Patriots.

"The Patriots would literally tell him to run a route a certain way, and a minute later he would run it the other way," wrote the Globe's Greg Bedard. "It happened all the time." During recent OTAs, he also struggled to recognize zone versus man coverage. Even if it irked Carson Palmer, Ochocinco often got away with freelancing as opposed to running the correct route in Cincinnati. That was never going to work in the Patriots' precision timing offense, which relies on receivers to make pre-snap reads and run exactly where Tom Brady expects them to run.

IMHO, Issaic Curtis was the best bengals receiver ever.

You know, it might not be such a big coincidence that the day Ocho gets released, the Jags release Kampman which opens up a roster spot.

And, with Jacksonville's uncertainty of the possibility that Goodell may suspend their rookie WR (Blackmon), it could be very likely the Jags pick up Ocho as an emergency fill in for Blackmon if necessary.

This might explain why people say Palmer was always staring down his receivers. Running bad routes was apparently acceptable under the Bratkowski/Marvin regime, at least in the case of Chad.

Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that Chad was nothing more than a great system receiver, which is fine, but it definitely won't get him into Canton.

He can't be a system receiver while freelancing his assignments.

I'm not going to argue the fact that Chad didnt freelance, a lot of us knew this for a while. I remember Housh saying this a long time ago, he use to help him in college too. But where are all the prediction posts about him being a cancer and how he was going to tear the locker room apart? At least he was a class act there, and he wasn't as bad in the locker room as everyone talks about when he was here (minus the 08) season.

As far as the Issac Curtis comment go look at his stats, its not even close to Chads. Chad right now will go down as the best or is currently the best until AJ Green breaks all of that hopefully.
